Earwig

It is a myth that earwigs crawl in sleeping people's ears at night. However, they are nocturnal (active at night), and can be found in gardens, in the home, and anywhere damp where they can hunt for small insects and find plant material to eat. If attacked by birds or lizards, earwigs release a foul smelling chemical that causes their attacker to instantly release them. The pair of pinchers on the tail are used both defensively and offensively but pose no threat to humans.

Earwig has a minor role in the story. He appears to be a rather repugnant pest with few redeeming qualities. Compared to Earwig, Silverfish seems honorable. I think I'll just leave it at that.
