Queen Bee

The Queen is the larger, darker bee in the picture to the left. Unlike other bees, larval queens are fed only royal jelly. It's this substance that makes the larva develop into a queen. Never more than one queen in the hive, she destroys the cells of any other larval queen before they are born. During her 2 to 5 year lifespan, she lays over 1500 eggs a day. She is constantly fed royal jelly, secreted from special glands in the heads of her attendant workers. Her attendants groom and service her every need.

Book Three is not the first time the Queen Bee appears in the trilogy. Her tyrannical rule is evident throughout the trilogy. When her grip on the kingdom begins to fall apart, we see just how evil she can be. Any bee who dares to threaten her rule will surely be sent to the Cell of the Forgotten, tossed to the Garbage Heap, or put in the dreaded cuddle death.

She cares little about anything but her own legacy and the success of The Great Cicada Ball.  When Book Three begins, neither of these are going well for the Queen.

Read the Heroes of Meadowfield and find out if Meadowfield can survive its own Queen.
