Gypsy Moth Caterpillar

These caterpillars are among the most destructive pests of hardwood trees in the eastern United States. The insect was  brought to Massachusetts from Europe in 1869 by an amateur entomologist who planned to breed them with silkworms to boost the silk industry. He allowed them to escape and their path of destruction has been spreading ever since, defoliating trees and costing the economy millions of dollars in forest damage. They have been notoriously difficult to control

Gypsy Moth Caterpillar lives on the barren edge of the Unknown Forest in the region of Meadowfield she calls, Gypsy Land.  She spends most of her time stripping leaves off trees; devouring them, one after the other.  As a result, most of the trees are bare; struggling just to stay alive.
When Worker 120o meets her, she claims to be Scarab the Dung's personal assistant.  If Worker 1200 has any chance of meeting with Scarab, she will have to go through the rather evasive caterpillar first.

Read The Great Cicada Ball and see if Gypsy Moth Caterpillar is telling the truth or it's just another one of her many stories.

This video explains how to recognize the destructive Gypsy Moth Caterpillar .
