You are right.  That's The Smoking Hills.

For the bug-fellows of Meadowfield it is a forbidden place.  'No bug-fellow has ever gone into the Smoking Hills.  They are strictly forbidden', Stinkbug tells Silverfish. 'Too many rumors come from there.'  She is of course referring to the Loomer Rumors
, a word she cannot bare to say... Loomer.

The Smoking Hills rise up where suntimes end.  It is from these purple hills that The Waters makes its way, rolling slowly out of the hillsides and emptying into Meadow Pond.

For Cockroach, the Smoking Hills hold the promise of endless food, tidbits as he calls them.  'More than you can imagine, if the stories of my Dead Ancestors are true', he tells Stinkbug.

And for Cockroach, there are no finer tidbits than Loomer crystal cubes.  And he knows the only place he can find them is in The Smoking Hills.
